Hanging out in NYC with harmony_bites and renitaleandra. Times are good, if exhausting. Average conversations with New Yorkers seem to follow a pattern:

NYC-ER: So, where are you visiting from?
ME: Vancouver-ish.
NYC-ER: Seriously? You do know that everyone is going there right now

Makes sense to me. I went to college in New Orleans, and we got a 4 days weekend at the end of Mardi Gras. I always got the hell out of Dodge and went home for a visit. People thought I was weird, but at least I didn't have a pile of crappy Mardi Gras beads, a hangover, and a hazy memory of lifting my shirt to drunks when classes resumed.

Not to mention the fact that VANOC is insane. I never want to go near the Olympics again.
