But the reveal for the sshg_exchange is up and I can't wait!

I received three (good god, three) gifts, in exchange for two fics:

Mercenary Games by tinytextans (which is a juicy spy fic)
The Singing Dark Lord, a hilarious piece of art, courtesy of the members of Team Illusions
Regent Favor, by laiksmarie, which is also giggle-worthy ( Read more... )

fanart, ss/hg exchange, fic, random

First off, I am SO behind in reading that I've only read one of your entries but will squee over the other as soon as I reach it. But really I wanted to tell you again how much I enjoyed Zombies and congratulate you on a monumentally brilliant story. And I totally knew it was you- the same little voice that tells me that Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is going to be worth reading. *applauds* YAAAAY YOU!

I guarantee that I am waaaaaay more behind than you-I haven't made it to yours yet, but I'm very much looking forward to it. I'm really glad you enjoyed Zombies, though-it's my baby. :)

Oh, and I'm totally going to read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. It looks terrible, yet awesome.

There's a laugh-out-loud funny thread at the Onion's AV Club on the review of the book, where people compile a list of possible spinoffs, including some dead-on impressions of style (you have to scroll down past the thread of people dropping their favorite P&P quotes). My favorites:

A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Zombies
A Confederacy of Zombies
The Naked and the Undead
To Kill a Zombie
Tuesdays With Morrie 2
The life and death and undeath of King Richard III
Romeo and Ghouliet
As I Lay Undying
The Cook, the Thief, His Wife, and Her Zombie

Oh wow! I didn't guess either of the ones you wrote, but they were both just absolutely excellent!

Thank you! Zombies is my baby (and the longest complete anything I have written in a very long time), so I'm very pleased that people seem to have enjoyed it. :)

I loved Zombies - thought it was one of the most thought-provoking fics in the exchange. I couldn't stop thinking about it for days.

I adored 'Zombies'. I laughed, I sniffled, I fangurled the anonymous author, and here I am, doing it again ;-)

Oooh, yay! Which works out tidily since you drew my favourite of the art (which I guessed).

Yeah, I think most people spotted it was mine. Harder to hide if you're drawing, I think ;-)

Thank you!

I thought mine had my filthy fingerprints stamped all over it (especially since I think I'm the only SSHGer with a love of Ron/Pansy, and I was in the middle of a KIA rec binge and planning an exchange for the pairing-not my best timing ever). But I have the blessing of a tiny flist, so it turned out okay.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! pythia_delphi April 18 2009, 13:28:55 UTC
I absolutely LOVED my Zombies fic. It had everything I love about this pairing: humour, wit, grown-up romance, a touch of angst and mystery all interwoven into a seamless whole. I loved that Hermione was strong and principled, Severus was stoic yet vulnerable, and that you included such well fleshed-out characters including, *gasp* a likeable Ron and a lovable Pansy Parkinson!

I totally did not guess the author, which is no surprise as we have never been formally introduced ;-). Let me rectify that situation right now: Hello! *waves madly* I hope you won't mind if I friend you immediately.

Oh, I almost forgot. Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Allo! *waves back* I've seen you around, but no, no introductions yet.

It was a little bit terrifying to write for someone that I didn't know, so I was very relieved that you loved it. And Ron and Pansy are my two favourite misunderstood characters (Ron by the fandom, Pansy by JKR), so I had a lot of fun writing them in and am happy that people did more than suffer through my indulgence!
