Because I've had one of those weeks in which people ask me why I'm a vegetarian (and gaze at me as though they've just noticed the second head sprouting from my shoulder) about ten million times and I have a long, rambling answer

I don't see why someone should look at someoe else as if they were an alien only because they're vegetarian. Not eveyrone likes the same things, and it doesn't apply to clothes, books and music only. It applies to food also. That's ridiculous.

Also, there is this bizarre worship of 'meeeeeeat' in our culture as the only proper food.
