I found a basket with apples today; they're a bit wizened, but still good. *sigh* I'd kill die for baked apples and mayo right now, but I don't have all the ingredients

And unpleasant creatures is a more pleasant term? ... I might have misunderstood you, though... What or who were you referring to when you said unpleasant creatures?
Searching for supplies out in the wastelands is something I've considered and it's likely there are new supplies being brought in from the constant shifting. However, the greatest concern is what lies out in the wastelands as well as the danger of being caught as something shifts in.
This is a task not for an individual, but a carefully planned group.
But apples, you say? Do you think you could save the seeds? While it would take many years for an apple tree to reach fruit-bearing maturity and I hope we will not be here for that long, it is something to take into consideration.
My concern are more the time shifts; with beings - should they prove to be hostile - I think I can deal, at least I can fight them, but against shifts of time and space I have no weapon.
I've been thinking if maybe it was possible to sense in advance when and where the next rifts in the space-time structure are about to occur, then there might be the chance to evade them... When worlds get pushed into each other, this must lead to abrupt and significant changes of energy levels around that point, or so I assume - maybe one could find a way to measure those changes and pick up their precursors at an early stage.
Yes, although numbers alone won't warrant safety, the advantages that travelling in a group bring should outweigh its disadvantages... If there are others willing to venture for an expedition into the wastelands, I would like to join them, but I would also go alone if I had to.
"Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree."I can save the apple seeds, yes. Trying to grow them

Though I've only been on the very edge of the Safezone and done my readings from there, I've noticed there are spikes in energy, though I am not sure how accurate the readings are. With some time and the proper materials, I believe it may be possible to create a device that would be able to track and predict where a shift will occur

You think you would be able to create such a device? That would be great. Unfortunately, while I might refreshen and enhance my knowledge on physics and electronics if I found the relevant books here, I doubt that I will ever be able to actually build something on my own, even if I might be able to do the math at some point

I would advise against going out there unless you can be certain of your own protection.
