Ever wonder why my default pic is almost always a picture of me? I wrote up an entry on Tumblr about it. But, since Tumblr has its limits as a blogging platform (namely tags & reply functionality), I'll repost here!Over the years, I’ve had a lot of people misunderstand the reason I use my own face as my main avatar across social media platforms.

Brava. And this is part of why I always use my feet on lj, but if I can avoid it, I won't be explicitly lining lj and Facebook due to desiring different audiences in the two locations.

Hi there! I started following you after seeing your comments to shadesong's posts today - you seem like a great person, as well as being a maker of beautiful jewelry.

I can totally respect your point here, even if I don't do the same thing myself. I have an LJ icon that's a photograph of myself, which I use when I feel it's important that an LJ post be connected with the "real" me. But I don't actively link my LJ to my "real" name because I want to maintain control over who reads what I say here or, for that matter, who even knows that I have this journal.

I've never been to Baltimore, and I've only been to Maryland for a few hours - when I was 15 we went to visit relatives in West Virginia and one night we crossed over into Maryland for dinner.
