What I Did On My Internet Vacation

Day 6 draws to a close. Comcast has still not changed their entirely unhelpful pre-recorded message. I am falling further and further behind because I can't order stuff for coming updates. Hell, I've had to go on walks just to get enough cell signal to check my email. Tonight, I'm at a friend's house, and tomorrow I'll be at Terra Firma, so I can ( Read more... )

I was in P&P fandom back before I joined LJ and saw some cracktastic crossovers and AUs. In a recent fit of nostalgia, I looked up some of the old fics. A few of them have been taken down, with announcements saying that the authors have since polished them up and published them as actual books. So I'm not surprised by the Darcy vampire story, but a little surprised it ended up on a shelf.

I like the random Nox in the middle of the Olive spread. I also think the contrast between slightly grumpy awake Olive and blissed out sleeping on a human Olive is adorable.

In her more indignant moments, J has taken to calling Olive "Grumplestiltskin."

What do you use to keep your hairline so clean and neat when you dye? This is a constant problem for me in that if I use too much goop (oil/vaseline/etc.) my other hair tends to stick to it and those sticky bits won't take the dye. I have a HUGE skunk stripe that I need to deal with this weekend (though touch ups are way easier than a full hair job, which now takes two tubes of dye to cover).

Basically I just scrub my hairline when I wash it out, and deal with remaining staining until the next wash, at which point, it disappears like magic.

Due to being in the middle of nowhere and having no bookstores, the school book fair was really my best bed for getting ANYthing to read. Amongst the pile of things waiting to be read: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls. In my defense, I haven't been able to force myself to read it yet. Plus, Amy is keeping me stocked in books worth reading, which is way better than what I'm sure that will be. Although, I did manage to read the entire Hunger Games Trilogy I picked up there (and enjoyed) and found a copy of a Gaiman co-authored book directed at tweens called Interworld, which also did not suck.

But the zombie one... Yeah, I can't make myself do it.

Also, in love with your hair color. I was aiming for something similar, but ended up with an auburn much closer to your usual color.

Oh, and why does kitty appear to be in blue cotton pampers? Did I miss something?

Olive's had disabled back legs since she was about 1. Docs don't really know why-- they told us it was spinal lymphoma and she had weeks to live about two years ago. She's fine. She gets around okay and basically runs the house. The only thing we have to help her with is going to the bathroom-- we have her on a schedule. The cloth diapers have maxi pad liners-- she doesn't have accidents very often, maybe once a month or so. But they decrease friction on her rear and also catch if she leaks a bit when she has a leg spasm.

aww, yay badass li'l muffin! I remember there being scary times with Olive over the years, but I didn't remember the specifics. As Opie got older, she got leaky. But we just finally worked out a system together. And I lived without roommates...

She has very stylish li'l cat rompers.
