Call me humorless, but...

Oh good. So it wasn't just me. The Super Bowl ads were super sexist this year. (FWIW, Jason mostly slept through the Super Bowl.) Like, more than normal, which is pretty much saying something.

Thanks, Jezebel!

Seriously. I expect the Superbowl to have sexist commercials but the misogyny was off the charts this year. I went to bed shortly after the halftime show but I caught that awful Dodge Charger ad and it left me fuming. And this is sort of silly, but it depressed me to learn that Michael C. Hall did the voiceover. The Go Daddy ads were predictably offensive as well. I know the Superbowl is geared towards men, but that doesn't mean is has to be geared towards men who hate women. Ugh.

YES. I actually got online during the game to see if people were talking about this... it was insane. Some of them actually made me sick to my stomach.

Nearly all the ads you see during NFL season either are sexist or plain stupid. I am a guy, but I find some of them downright insulting, and not even in a humorous self-deprecating sort of way.

The Bud commercials were horrible and indiotic, just like they were during the regular season. WTF is up with Etrade's "trading babies"? That's just creepy - let alone, stupid.

IMHO Google's ad and the first Coke one with the Simpsons were pretty nifty.

I didn't watch- instead opting to watch Bathory- but Ezra Klein about blew up Twitter doing little microrants about this. XP Apparently the Dennys ad was bad, too, he said they were boldly using their animal cruelty to advertise or something.

I didn't watch. Please tell us about the bridgestone ad. I knew the ads would be bad, they usually are. But this sounds worse than normal?

Click the Jezebel link. They're all there. Some, like the Betty White one and the Dove ad, I didn't think were too bad. The Dove one even poked some fun at masculine stereotypes. But the other ones were pretty heinous.

I kinda liked the Dove ad. I think the Bridgestone ad was the one that my computer flaked out on so I couldn't see it.
