linkspam + another meme

My bookmarks have exploded over the past week, so it's about time I start cleaning 'em out. :D

You've got to check out this font -- Ecofont; not only does it look cool, but it'll help you conserve printer ink.

From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler was a favourite book of mine as a kid & this Unshelved strip could have been me at ( Read more... )

It's so cute! I'm too attached to my custom themes to use it, but I love their little faces. XD

In the magazine article that I read, they said that if you use Ecofont at 12pt or under, you can't even tell the holes are there & you're still using 20% less ink. That is really cool.

{A good example of how this meme works is here; that's why I stole it from her. :D)

I had to really think about this one! I've only seen the movies so I don't have much knowledge about the fandom at large, but I have seen rumblings that Liz 'settled' for Hellboy, that he was the only person who could love her. I don't see their relationship like that at all; I think they truly love each other & the fact that he is the exact opposite, that he has a natural resistance to her power, I think that's a perk but not the be-all of their romantic chemistry.

I see. My understanding of "fanon" extended to Star Trek trivia, pretty much. (Like Uhura's first name... which is of course canon as of the new movie.) But I guess it's more conventions established within fandoms.

Yeah, I have to read the Hellboy comics too. They are cute in the movies. :)

Yeah, fanon is more like things that are assumed rather than things that are explicit. I always think of fanon as 'your own personal canon' & then there are things like, yes, Uhura's name -- things that just take up a life of their own.

I think I love this new meme. ;-) I also really loved From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler as a kid, and actually, most of her novels. Cool.

Let's see...from what I read, non-canon ships are allowed too, so...

How about, either Hermione as a character, or Harry/Hermione as a pairing?

It's harder than I thought it would be! I forgot that a lot of my issues are with the actual canon, not the fanon. XD ... like with Harry Potter.

Hermione: that she is a tiger in the bedroom. I love Hermione, Hermione is my favourite character, but she's also a very literal, bookish person. I think she's an expert on sex in theory, but not so much in execution. I can't see her dominating Ron, Harry, Draco or any of the other assorted people she's often paired with.

And, what the heck! I'll do Harry/Hermione too. They're my OTP so it's a bit difficult-- hmm, there is the thing about how it wouldn't work. That they'd feel too guilty about leaving Ron out to have a functional relationship. I don't buy that. I think, yeah, it would suck and be uncomfortable but I think their relationship would work at the most basic level. They have so much in common & so much of a shared history together.

Some people look at kids & their ovaries ache -- I look at cats (and brilliant, attractive writers) and it happens to me.

Yes! I look at a kid/baby and I have no reaction whatsoever. I don't care what sort of adorable act they may be pulling or hilarious silliness they're spouting. Just put a cat within eye range and I'm a puddle of goo on the floor. They don't even have to do anything.

Yay to all of this ^__^

Incidentally, are you involved at all in the collaborative art project thing inspired by those NG pics? If not, and you're interested, take a look at 2xcreative and see if you'd like to play too!
