I've been thinking a lot about Jericho lately. (Mainly cursing its uncancellation, considering The Class was so much better and is still ... well, dead. And if my favourite CSI is ... well, dead, I'm officially turning in my CBS fangirl card ( Read more... )

I know there was a big push before the season started, with ads showing the mushroom cloud & generally making the show look kinda cool. Then it was pretty much radio silence; since a lot of people who tuned in soon tuned out. :/

If Jericho had even attempted to be somewhat like Children Of Men, it would've been an improvement. (A cheap copy, but an improvement.)

Eeep. I haven't seen the movie yet. *flails* Now I feel guilty because I don't want to spoil myself, but it's yours. Well, I'm beyond confident that it's brilliant because you have such a fondness for the characters. And you know how I feel about your writing; there's no reason for you to be self-conscious because on your worst day, you're still a better damn writer than most people. (I'm not trying to be a kiss-ass, but it's true. *blushes*)

I agree with everything you said. (And I, too, was hoping for zombies. :D)

I quit watching before they started warring with that other town, but I don't think even that could've held my interest.

But, having since seen Ashley in Dark Angel & Birds Of Prey, I'm beginning to believe that it was just bad writing instead.

I'd agree with you on it being the bad writing. I mean, Ashley's not Meryl Streep, but I've enjoyed her in everything I've seen her in except for Jericho. And I tried really hard to like Emily, and maybe even succeeded for a second or two in the beginning, but ultimately couldn't stand her.

I also think that Ashley is like ten times better looking as a brunette, and that she actually really rocks short hair and should ditch the extensions. Helena was all kinds of hot, and I hope she gets a role that demands her to go brown again.

That being said, her look as Asha on DA was hot too, and she looked fine in that Jessica Alba scuba diving movie as well.

So, I think it's just that Jericho has found a way to make Ashley look like teh suck, which is sad because this is how most people have been exposed to her.

That's been my experience, too. I had a small fight with IMDB when I started watching Birds Of Prey because I didn't even recognise her to begin with; I didn't know of Ashley until Jericho so I really expected her to actually be quite blonde in 'real life', as well as being not so great as an actress.

I agree, she definitely looks better with darker hair. And, in Hollywood, blondes are almost a dime a dozen. She looked smokin' hot & looked 'original' with darker hair. (I'm not sure if 'original' is the word I'm looking before, but I just mean that she looks unique & not like a carbon copy of the generic blonde bombshell.)

I hope that TPTB at Jericho have learned something from being on the brink of cancellation & try to improve the status quo; new writers could definitely help the show (and Ashley) out.
