I love Wife Swap. :D One of my favourite things about it is how it clearly shows how horrible some families are -- and more often than not, it's the 'conservative Christian family' that ends up looking like shit. ( Like tonight's episode. )

Oh yeah, it's definitely a guilty pleasure. :D I like to watch it because it makes me & my family look almost normal at times. ;)

I was so disgusted by the father of the conservative family and the little son was such a spoiled brat! (why do all the familys have chubby spoiled little 10-year-olds? arg) I was annoyed with the mother at first, but I think by the end she was actually trying to be more lenient. I just felt sorry for their daughter!

I'm with you -- the father of that family was such a horrible person. And while I do feel much sorrier for the daughter, I do feel a little bad for the son -- because he's just the way he is because of the way he raised. He doesn't know any better -- and probably never will.

I'm glad that the mother is trying to be closer to her daughter -- and that is a step forward. I just wish that she could have come away from the Swap with a bit more of a backbone so that she could stand up to her husband. :/

Oh, I know what you mean about the son. Part of me wanted to hit him and part of me wanted to shake the parents for turning him into such a spoiled brat. I think that's what frustrated the other mom - she knew that the kids behaved that way because they had been raised that way.

The mother was showing a lot of potential towards the end - I loved when she got the makeover - but when the two couples met up again and her husband got up and left and she just followed right behind? Erg.

Hated hated HATED the asshole fundamentalist dad. Why the hell would you do a show like this if you were completely unwilling to abide by the rules? I guess he thought his family would be doing all the teaching and no learning.

I did warm up the AFD's wife by the end. It seemed like she was really trying to get something out of the experience and open her mind a little bit, even if she's still too much under the thumb of her husband. I'm glad she and her daughter have a better relationship now - I felt so awful for that girl. I also felt bad for the boy - not because he was a nice kid at all, but because he's become such a misogynist snot due to his dad's influence and mom's complacence, and he never really had a chance to be anything else.

Also, I was secretly thrilled that the "cool" family lived in Texas. It's nice when we get to show the rest of the nation that there might be a majority of Bush-supporting right-wingers, but there's quite a substantial minority (several million of us!) who subscribe to other lifestyles and

I know! I couldn't believe it when the lady was going through her rules at the beginning of the second week & he just kept going 'Nope. No. My house, my rules.' I think that the Wife Swap PTB were getting ticked off at him. During the final confrontation, you could hear them offscreen telling him not to leave.

I hope that the mother keeps going on drives with her daughter & keeps being nice -- but I'm betting that once the post-show publicity & stuff dies down & cameras aren't showing up, things will go back to the way they were before.

When they were doing the introductions, the Texas thing impressed me too! With all the stereotypes, I would have expected the residences to be switched -- but it was a nice thing to show that not all Texans are ... I'm having trouble picking a word here, you know what I'm getting at though. ;)

Aw. We never have any fun families in the Swedish version. All fundamentalist families over here belong to sects and probably think television is teh ebil.

I love it when the end result is divorce though. We've had a few of those. :) This show is my guilty pleasure.

Wife Swap's the one where the wives stay for two weeks, right?
