i love the new girl! i was not at all impressed with the first 2 episodes because of OTT jess but stuck it out for one more and was basically hooked. the entire cast has fantastic chemistry; nobody seems like a third or a fifth wheel, and their interaction/dialogue all feel so spontaneous/organic - like i'm watching a mish-mash of my own friends snap at one another's heels, ha ha. also, schmidt is amazecakes.
ALSO, MAD MEN. i did not even realize how much i missed that show until the fifth season opener. megan fascinates me - she is so very much the objectified women searching in vain for subjecthood in all the wrong ways. jessica pare is ridiculously hot, though - i was super jealous of her bod as she was writhing around the floor in that awkward s&m/fake rape sex scene. joan/lane are fascinating me this season as well (it's interesing to see joan lose her 'touch'), and oh god i cannot wait to see what goes down between pete/roger over the course of the season. i hope pete eats roger for breakfast - it is about time.
YES. they are such a good cast! i occasionally find myself thinking HEY MAYBE I SHOULD BEFRIEND A MODEL AND MOVE IN WITH A BUNCH OF WEIRD DUDES but no, alicia, actually that is a terrible idea. oh, schmidt. he is definitely amazing.
oh my god, joan breaking down in lane's office was such a gorgeous scene. it reminded me aesthetically of a scene in... i think the season 4 opener, actually, with her and roger in his office, but now things are so different for her. god, i just want her to be happy! i wish it didn't seem like that was so hard. and yes, pete and roger. i still find pete really difficult to love, but roger deserves his comeuppance.
(i feel you on jessica paré!! also, that shot of her standing on the balcony was so gorgeous.)
LOL, that would be kind of epic. I mean, you'd probably never get any work done, but with friends like those why would you even need a job anyway? :p YOUTH, MAN.
Oh, I think I know what you're talking about, yes. Poor Joanie. So, so smart and so, so beautiful, and sometimes you just watch her and wonderful if any of that potential is ever really going to be fulfilled.
I go back and forth between loving and hating Roger - he's a character I love to watch but would hate the guts of in real life.
I was surprised at how big a freak Megan was. I can't wait to see where they go with her character, what other shenanigans they put her (and her gorgeousness) up to. It sort of makes me sad that the fandom hates on her so much - it's like here, look, a beautiful woman, let's all just made snide comments about her teeth or w/e ;__;
I love Downton Abbey! And lol, I know some of the plot twists are ridiculous, but it doesn't bother me in the slightest for some reason. I'm not watching it for realism, I guess. Who are your favourites?
aaah sometimes when i watch it i am just like, BOY, I LOVE EVERYONE, but... i do have favourites! lady sybil will always hold the top place in my heart - she is just so charming and earnest. i adored the scene of her coming downstairs in her trousers! anna and bates are such a good couple, too. i love them both as characters (anna playing detective and going to meet bates' mother? so great) and their romance was unbelievably sweet. and CARSON. i think he is probably my second favourite on this show - he is so gruff and yet actually soft-hearted... i loved it whenever he comforted mary. (and when he practised speaking on the telephone!!!)
OH HAYMITCH. You will, of course, have to let us know what you thought of Woody Harrelson's interpretation. (I liked it, but it's definitely a different Haymitch from the books.)
