When you say you don't need an oven to make those breads, how do you make them? Are they something like a chapati?

More like a tortilla (Salvadoran style, not the super thin Mexican kind). I shape them by hand and then cook them on a hot pan, with no oil. I used my Salvadoran comal for the last batch and it worked really well, but I have also used my cast iron pan and a friend’s crepe pan.
