Visiting Parliament

Tomorrow my big project will be discussed by Cabinet, so today I had to go to Parliament Hill to do a run-through as I'll be flipping the slides for the Minister's presentation. It is. One of my favourite views is from across the river. It used to be on one of our bills. There are so many lovely nooks and crannies too, filled with history.

It is a few years now since we were in Ottawa. I was very impressed with the building it must be a great place to walk around for work.

When I worked on the Hill years ago I needed to go to other parts that aren't open to tourists - the 1950's wiring and "fixes" weren't so beautiful. There is a massive effort on now to renovate the whole place. Significant chunks will be ready in time for next year's 150th, but places like the Senate won't be in use for a decade.
