Live below the line

It starts April 28 and goes until May 2. Geoff leaves the morning of the 29th. I'm pretty sure I can live on rice, beans, home-baked bread, eggs, local ( Read more... )

$1.50 per day or for the whole 5 days? and how does food supplies on hand factor in? kind of curious about this and I have to say it has me thinking...

I'm not sure how food on hand factors in. OTOH, there doesn't seem to be any calculation for food we grow ourselves, or forage. Those are both part of normal culture in developing countries, even among the wealthy (everyone has a garden, and usually some fruit trees).

In the end, I didn't do the challenge, though I may try it later. It seems like a good one to do during summer.

been thinking about it & it certainly is fueling my thoughts. problem with living in the city & apartment dwelling is that growing options are limited. I tried squash one year & that was a giggle as I only got two wee pattipan for the whole summer.

some container growing is possible, but not what I got used to when house living. thinking that food on hand would be my substitution. but been generally trying to pare things down lately anyway. far too easy to accumulate interesting stuff & not have the energy to actually use it.

if you do decide, I would be willing to try it at the same time. trick is getting the writing in lj lately for me.
