If I remember correctly, the guy who started Sea Shepherd ~was~ in GreenPeace, but decided to be more active... that is interfere with the Japanese ships, not just document their activities.
I made sandwiches for a homeless shelter today (we do this with a group every other Sunday), and am going to volunteer at a fundraiser for local foster programs tuesday (i've also sorted book donations for the foster folks and made clothing donations as well as transporting other people's clothing donations).
I also have volunteered with planned parenthood and hrc in the past, but planned parenthood doesn't really have anything that fits my hours right now, and the hrc really pissed me off. :/
My income and budget aren't fixed enough to pledge anywhere for regular donations, so I randomly donate money to various charities depending on what issues I suddenly am reminded of when I happen to have money to spare.
P donates her allowance to SmileTrain, helps with the sandwiches every other Sunday, and is arranging some donation drives with her Girl Scout Group.
P.S. What's this I hear about you visiting St. Louis sometime?
If IWW membership dues count, then yes. Otherwise, I am looking into CERT, I just have to figure out the logistics of coordinating taking the classes with my wonky work schedule.
