Sod Crowded House. The Kiwi section of the Jubilee should be Bailterspace, The Clean & The Dead C the latter especially playing at ear splitting volume on top of the palace roof. Got to be several hundred billion times better than the dross played last night.

With all due respect to Bailterspace et al, they lack mass appeal, unlike Crowded House. :-) The quality was surprisingly low for an event like this, though there were some stand out moments. Go on, tell me Madness wasn't good at least!

Boats

From the little I saw of the celebrations I enjoyed them... but I never knew that there were so many boats around! They went on for like ever...

The various Sail events around the world manage to get even more boats together, see e.g. this video from Sail Amsterdam 2010.

Actually, I don't think my photo really gives an accurate picture of just how crowded the river was sometimes. Not quite Canaletto though. :-)

Wow, thanks for that ... those tall ships are very impressive. I never knew that so many of them were still going strong!

Oh yes, they are. And many of them you can even sail on yourself, see for example Tall Ships Adventures/The Tall Ships Youth Trust, TS Pelican, Europa, Stad Amsterdam, or the "Get On Board"-section on the Sail Training International website.
