I kind of want to dye my hair some crazy color. I have dark brown hair and haven't dyed it at all save for a Manic Panic red that did nothing except give me red highlights if I stood in the exact right spot in the sun. I'm almost 38, and just reached my last possible promotion at work without getting another degree. So I'm debating whether I wait until my boss retires before I go purple, black and platinum, or just do it anyway and hope she still likes me.

I had my crisis last year this time. I quit my job and cut my hair really short. I almost dyed it purple. And I got Ludo.

Do it! I wish I could have purple hair. I have some purple hair chalk stuff for clubbing purposes, but that's about all I can do with my hair dyed brownish-black. I like the colored under-layer look.

In the past, I've gone bright red and sort of plum. Reds are hard to maintain and fade to a more natural color quickly--so that could be a solution for you. Two weeks of HELLO RED! and then it would simply be red. If you don't bleach first, whatever color you choose will be less vibrant, so doing it over your natural color might be the right option.
