Well, back from the road, but about to head out again in a few days. Here are some photos from Syracuse, NY - mostly of the Everson Museum and works therein.
I am not generally a fan of the sort of brutalist concrete thing, but the interior is just really enticing in an unexpected way. It feels a little like an elegant cave :g:
Alas, a lot of sculpture is so tempting to climb. But it causes a lot of damage and it's so expensive to fix. And if you don't fix it, it looks like crap really quickly, due to rust and scratched paint and things deteriorating.
Sometimes, when I'm despairing of the damage the students and drunk football fans inflict, I'll remember seeing the skateboarder blithely scraping his skateboard along several of the works out there, and think that at least we had the option to place everything on grass.
