So, I was a big fan of the books. I devoured the first one, and ended up buying the UK versions of the next two, I think, because they were available earlier. I was all in. And then...well, the famous interlude. And by the time more books came out, I just didn't care anymore. The idea of rereading them all to remind myself about plot points didn't

Ahahaha, sorry! I should have warned that I was sending people to the great timesuck of the interwebs.

It is indeed a lot of time spent on a lot of horrible things happening. Perhaps things would have been better if it the series had stayed a trilogy - less room for all the misery to get crammed in and sustained. I mean, I like a good bloodbath as well as the next person, but enough is enough. I figure I'll get to season two eventually, but yeah, I'm not in a big rush to get there.

If you had asked me how the books were ten years ago, I'd have done a big interpretive dance about how awesome they were and how much you should read them because words could not adequately contain my glee. But now...yeah.
