You know, over the past many years, I've lived in a lot of apartments. I've finally come to the conclusion that it's really damn difficult to predict whether or not your experience with a rental agency or apartment complex will be a positive one, a neutral one, or a wildly negative one. My experience of renting (except in Switzerland, which is a weird place) is that they will ALWAYS try to screw you out of your deposit.

Yeah, and honestly we knew that - but after you get done scrubbing the apartment, and you're looking around it proud of yourself, because it looks good...it's hard to have all the faults magnified and all the good dismissed completely. Logically, we expected it. But for some reason - probably due to being still stressed out from the move - I took it a bit hard emotionally.

Seriously, our cats couldn't have gouged the wood window ledge like that if we gave them chisels, hammers, and thumbs.
