Doctor Renee D'Auber was very beautiful and very French, and Rodney McKay was terrified of her.
"Really, Renee," Shoreham told her as they watched McKay hurry from the weekly science department head meeting looking shellshocked. "You could be a bit more tactful."
"Me? I merely pointed out," she said with the brilliant, disarming smile that was the last thing so many graduate students remembered from their thesis defense, "that if he did not wish to die of the dysentery or the horrible local equivalent, he would do well to stop putting strange things in his mouth while on alien planets."
