Ling Tong had left his tent after he and Grell spoke last--one last errand to run, just in case things went too far south. He'd gotten back by the time Grell showed up, though, and had spent the time since his return waiting out behind his tent in quiet meditation, his nunchaku by his side.

Someone else was nearby; dark brown eyes opened smoothly. Taking up his weapon, the martial artist moved out around the edge of his tent, spotting Grell just before he heard his voice.

"I said I wasn't going to run or hide, so what does your 'head start' matter?" he asked irritably. Ling Tong scoffed at that offer. "Really? You seriously think I'm dumb enough to go into battle without being ready for a painful death?" Maybe the first time, or the second, or even the third... but after all the times he'd been at risk of losing his life, that risk had long since become mundane to him. Being back in danger was almost like going home, in a way... Besides, he had nothing to lose here.

"I'll have to pass," he concluded, shifting smoothly into a defensive posture. "Now, come on. Don't keep me waiting."
