Ikea Painting recolors

Thanks to frankscrank’s tutorial, I’ve created a bunch of recolors. I’ve been wanting to create a followers gift to thank all the lovely folks who read my lj and/or tumblr but hadn’t gotten up the nerve to until now. I tried to pick a nice range of picture options and all 100+ paintings have clearly labeled swatches. One set is World of Warcraft ( Read more... )

Oops! my mistake - but I still think they're really pretty and I think you've made a great choice with the mesh you put them on.

They look really awesome! For sharing, just make sure you know the name of the picture and what expansion it needs. Don't feel bad about it being an IKEA painting, lots of people have IKEA and would like recolors of it! If you want to, you could try using the same pictures on a base-game mesh and offering both versions for download.

Another nice thing to do, although it isn't necessary, is to include a clearly labeled swatch in the download so that people can easily delete some of the painting recolors. Some people make one big picture with all the recolors (like what you've done above) and label that, other people include pictures of each recolor separately (you could even use the image files you made for simPE, if you saved them) and label them the same as the recolor file names.

Is that confusing? I can try to explain it in a simpler way if you'd like.

Thanks for the feedback. Everything was very clear. Good points on organization. I've been cleaning up my downloads folder and clearly labeled/organized swatches are amazing.

As for basegame painting meshes I'm still trying to figure out which one to use, its the question of which one desperately needs more recolors (some paintings are recolored to death, as a CC nutter I had to pick and chose just so I don't have to scroll through for an hour to find the one painting I want to use). If you have any thoughts on that, I'd love your opinion.
