Standing at the train station this morning (at 6:50am) on my way to work, the metal parts of my earrings felt soooo freezing! As soon as I stepped into the train, I felt me face melt!!! It's got to be snowing in the mountains for it to be this cold... We never get snow in ( Read more... )

Yes, the southern hemisphere is opposite to the northern. So, we have our winter now. It's peak ski season and lots of people are off to the snow these days for a vacation. There has been great snow falls in the mountains in NSW, the ski resorts are almost full!

Well, Australia is so big that we have 3 different time zones and also various climates in different areas.

The coldest day ever recorded in Australia was −23°C (−9.4°F) in Charlotte Pass, Snowy Mountains, Kosciuszko National Park, NSW [http://www.visitnsw.com/town/Charlotte_Pass.aspx]...that was in 1994.

In Sydney, the lowest temperature would be about 1°C or 2°C....that would be at night. During the day, the lowest would be about 12°C. On average, Sydney have days at about 14°C to 17°C in winter. So, no snow in Sydney...but the air and wind from the mountains can be really icy.

13...cold?? haha:) Here 13C is WARM.
But I do live in Norway, so I guess we are used to it. I remember when I was in Nice, France in april one year. And we went swimming, we thought the water was really warm and great. The French said "phiw, it's only Swedish and Norwegians that swims in april!" :)

But, it's not just the temperature that makes it cold. It's the wind and air too. The wind was blowing off the mountains where it was snowing. So, that made it really cold.
