My earbuds have a volume control slider and do very good noise cancellation (to the point where I can stand to ride the subway with its squealing wheels). *searches* Skullcandy SC-SBB3.5 Smokin' Earbud Black. It was only $20 or so when I got them, and there are other models/sellers. My only complaint is that the cord is only 4' long, which is ample for walking but not for reaching the computer under my desk.
