My google-fu must be weak, because I'm coming up with bupkis. I could have sworn I recently ran across a technical term for what is more commonly referred to the "one drop rule" doctrine of racial identity in the US. The doctrine of somethingorother. Anybody know what that term is?

A word I'd never heard of until I looked it up for you yesterday. It's mentioned in the first two Google result pages for "one-drop rule" -- but I think I found it by wandering around searches for words like "quadroon" and "octoroon".
