Against her better judgment, she rang up the guy her ex-something-or-other TA'd for and left a message.

"The island thinks you have a daughter. You can see her tomorrow. For now, she's asleep and she's gonna stay that way till morning."

Ok, so D had no idea if that last part was true, but she wasn't taking any risks. There were other kids involved.
