LATER... bed rest, claus edition pkmachomega December 16 2010, 05:50:25 UTC
Some time later, Claus' eyes opened.

He didn't move for a moment, before letting his head roll to one side. There was Pit, lying in a hospital bed much like his own. There was a sharp pain in his chest at the sight. When he rolled his head to the other side, the first thing he noticed was that his damaged wing was being suspended. It was bandaged. A lump began to rise in his throat at the sight. Part of him. They were a part of him. He looked beyond the wing to see people milling around the general area of the infirmary. He croaked out, throat hoarse.

"Who..."

Claus read the note with a big smile on his face, as waking up next to a slice of cheesecake was only a little peculiar. He remembered how the cheese had somehow managed to make him smile amidst the chaos of that morning, and considering that he was still starving, he devoured the food Duster had left with fervor. Perhaps a little too fast... his stomach was grumbling angrily later, and he might have even opened up one of his wounds again in his haste, but worth it? Most definitely. He couldn't wait to thank the man the next time he saw him.

16th, probably the day they were brought in pitticus December 20 2010, 09:19:01 UTC
When the hustle and bustle of visitations died down a good degree, Pit turned his head to the side and had a look at Claus. A couple things went through his mind:

Freaks, get out.

people who aren't exactly... people.

What did that make Claus?

"Claus? Are... are you okay?" he asked.

Claus was still awake, naturally. In the silence, he had a lot to think about. Pit's voice brought him out of his sort of trance.

"Huh? Oh... yeah, I'm hurting, but at least I'm comfortable. What about you?" His voice was full of concern. It it was wrong for anyone to get hurt, but with Pit it seemed extra cruel.

"Same, same. My wing hurts a lot, though... I can barely move it." He was pretty sure the feathered appendage was snapped or sprained, but it was hard to tell from an outside view.

"You know, I thought... I was told this was done to those who aren't human." How to go on about this... He looked at the batlike wing attached to Claus. "Why would they attack... you?"

Claus looked at his hands.

"Well... I'm not, really. I guess. I generally think of myself as one, but... This was a reminder.

I used to be. I could call myself a Chimera now, though."

Pit had a prearranged interpretation of what a chimera was meant to look like, and it wasn't like Claus at all. Because of that, he began to wonder whether Claus was masking his true form using humanization techniques or not.

"You're a chimera? You don't look like one to me."

"Where I come from, chimeras come in many shapes and sizes. I was operated on, and was given these wings. In the eyes of the people who made me this way, I became a chimera."

"Ohhh..." he trailed somberly, feeling quite a bit sorry for Claus and his past. One of his own new fears that he never thought about very often was the idea of being operated on, tampered with on a lab table or picked at and studied with tools and instruments. It came with being a bit different than most folks, not just in form (since FDC residents could come in all shapes and sizes), but probably stemming somewhere around the perimeters of his mystic origins. 'Angel' held a lot of meaning for a lot of different people, and they were bound to be curious. Lash was.

"How... does it make you feel? You don't have to answer, since it might be personal and I respect that, but..."

"I... don't know." He answered slowly. He really didn't. It varied. Sometimes he felt like he had come to grips with it, like he could use with wings without feeling odd about it at all. Other times... looking at his mechanical attachments just reminded him of that Mecha-Drago... No. It would do him no good to think about anything like that.

"No, it's okay. It changes. Right now I feel kind of... hollow. Sort of like I don't know what category to even put myself in."

His eyes drifted over to meet Pit's.

"How do you feel? You were attacked too, are you feeling okay?"

Pit was busy thinking about Claus's hollowness and wondering what kind of an answer he could give him, but he had to stop because he had been asked a question about himself. "...Yeah. I'm doing fine. Hurt, but I know I'll get out of this and go back to being my usual self." He smiled and the look in his eyes picked up. "And I know you will, too. We're strong!"
