I didn't think it would be so difficult, when I agreed to take over one of my co-worker's shifts...but I've been really tired lately. I'd like to say the extra money is worth it, but sometimes I wonder.

Although in this place, it would have to be, wouldn't it? Broken windows, doors that are falling apart, stairs with holes in them... I want to ( Read more... )

It is not a tenant's place to fix broken fixtures and/or structures in the apartment unless they caused them. This kind of normal wear and tear is part of the landlord's duties. He has been quite remiss.

I know...but it's dangerous to leave it alone, too. It's not our place but someone has to do it, right?

Indeed not, especially considering the financial circumstances of the people who live in this building. Lodge a complaint with the landlord, and if nothing is resolved, there are legal avenues we can (and which I will) pursue.

I wouldn't recommend taking a cat out for a walk, that's just asking for a car to run over her.

I wouldn't let her in the street, though. Just around the building itself is safe.
