“I’m feeling pretty stupid for trying to play with Heebum. Do you know what hyung did with him?”
“I think he locked him in the entrance and he locked him in his cage when he got home.” Sungmin laughed but held his cheek at the slight sting. “Does it feel any better?”
“I think the ELFs are going to come up with all assorts crazy ideas on why I have a cat.”
Ryeowook let his arm travel up and down Sungmin’s side. “Do you ever regret it? Ari and Ddabong, I mean.”
“Not really. I mean, it’s always so much fun. Looking up at people, being petted; it’s just a whole different experience than being human.” Sungmin grabbed Ryeowook’s hand and licked his fingers. “And you?”
“Yes.” Sungmin looked away from his eyes. “I like being Ddabong and everything, but…right now…I wish we’d never been caught in the rain. Ddabong is…so weak. Ari is so much like you - a ball of energy. It just makes me think…” Sungmin shut his eyes and kissed Ryeowook’s palm.
The two sat in silence until Ryeowook began to cough. Sungmin sat up, patting and rubbing his back till the episode had subsided. The little one looked grateful, however tired.
“Wookie-ah, Minnie-ah.” The door opened quietly and their leader smiled. “Don’t worry. The bad cat’s gone now.” They both laughed.
Leeteuk took a seat between them. “Ryeowook - I’m proud of you. I wouldn’t even want to stand up against Heebum.” The older man place his hand against Ryeowook’s cheek.
“Hey! What about me?” Sungmin pouted.
Leeteuk laughed and held Sungmin’s face. “You…I find you stupid for trying to play with Heebum. He’s as lazy as Heechul.” The comforting hand turned to pull out the singer’s cheek. Sungmin groaned, holding Leeteuk’s hand there.
The two felt a shock and the dogs shared a sad look.
Slowly, Sungmin let Leeteuk go. Ryeowook pulled the leader down on the bed, placing his head under Leeteuk’s chin and his arms around his waist.
Sungmin pulled a cover over them and laid his head on Leeteuk’s chest. The boys closed their eyes and pushes back to sleep.
Though Leeteuk knew not what was going on, his arms wrapped tight around the dog-men. His eyes stung and he closed them, too. He let himself be cried to sleep.
Ari and Ddabong slept beside their master. Ddabong cradled under the warmth of his hair and Ari slept upon his chest.
A/N: Okay, not a lot of people may get this, so I’ll explain. It’s said that dogs can tell what their masters are truly, truly feeling, no matter how good of a mask they wear. So when Leeteuk touched both of them, it clicked in their/Ari + Ddabong’s mind that Leeteuk was really sad. And what better way to cure sadness? A hug, of course! [I was voted #1 to give away free hugs, so it’s my philosophy]
P.P.S: Also, I meant to say this earlier. But scenes where it's written in italics is what Ari and Ddabong are doing. Kind of life what their spirits are doing? It's hard to explain, but if people ask questions, I may be able to answer them.
