Disclaimer: If I owned Johnny's Boys, well, I wouldn't be here. I'd be making it happen and then reclining as THEY all had to deal with the fangirl squees.
Summary: When word spreads that a certain little junior might debut, the parents find it a wondrous time to lunge at each others throats. And their sons' bank accounts.
All throughout practice, Ryutaro was tense and it showed. He didn't talk, he didn't play his DS. He jst sat there, staring at the clock. Just waiting for when he'd half to go home.
At the end, it seemed as if Shintaro had forgotten all about last night. He was gossiping on and on about the other juniors and B.I. Ryutaro made it seems as if he was paying attention, inwardly worrying his head off what was to present itself at home.
This...wasn't what he expected.
"Boys, your father and I are divorcing."
A piece of chicken dropped back onto his plate, halfway to Ryutaro's mouth. His voice flew from him. Shintaro's apparently didn't. "What'll happen to us?"
"Ryutaro, you'll go with your mother. If you want, you can continue your singing thing." Ryutaro visibly flinched; his father had never referred to being a Johnny as a 'thing' "If Shintaro does debut, then we'll go to court." All this his father said without looking from his dinner.
A whimper caught Ryutaro and he looked at his little brother. He opened his mouth to comfort him, but instead, Shintaro's voice flew in. "It's all my fault! I should've never joined Johnny's! Everything's my fault!" And Shintaro bolted from the room.
Ryutaro found his voice, "Shintaro!" and chased after his little brother. Being a few seconds, he came face first to a door. He banged on it with both fists. "Shintaro! Shin-chan, let me in! It's not your fault! Mama and Papa are stupid! Shintaro, let me in!" Something heavy hit the door, effectively scaring Ryutaro to a stop. His fists slowly left the door as he slowly slid down the wood.
Minutes felt like hours and the only sounds Ryutaro heard was quiet rustling. Until a large smash came across. Ryutaro shot up and twisted the handle. It turned easy and he scolded himself for not thinking of it earlier. Entering the room, he saw Shintaro frozen at the window with a backpack and a shattered picture frame on the floor.
Shintaro got over his shock and jumped out the window, landing hard on his feet. Not wasting time, he ran across the lawn and down the street.
"Shintaro!" Ryutaro yelled. His little brother gave no hesitation. He ran down the steps and out the door, but by then, little Shintaro Morimoto was nowhere to be found.
