Summary: Jun's been missing for a while. Everybody's looking for him and yet, just by sheer coincidence, Nino finds him when nobody else can.
Somewhere in the night, Nino woke up. He knew not what for or why until a bit later. Down the hall of his apartment, he heard the floor boards squeak under weight. And a soft, barely noticeable groan.
He rolled out of bed and pulled on a pair of sweats to cover up. Carefully, he walked toward the living room, making sure the floor didn't squeak under his weight.
Sure enough, Nino turned the corner to see Jun limping toward the door, using to the walls to help him. His eyes were downcast, so he didn't see the gap. Nino jumped out and caught the younger before he hit the floor. Jun breathed, slowly looking up at the okato.
NIno breathed heavy. He cracked a smile, choosing to try a joke. "You're not suppose to wake up until your prince kisses you, Sleeping Beauty."
Jun bit his lip, looking down.
Nino sighed, his smile falling. "Come on." He wrapped an arm around Jun's back, helping the man hobble back to the couch.
As his back hit the wool stitch, it arched in pain. "What's wrong?" Nino was on full alert.
"My back feels like its on fire."
Nino pursed, slowly and softly pulling his friend to sit up. He sat behind him and rolled up his shirt, which he know realized was wet.
He bit back a gasp. All across Jun's cream colored skin were too, too many cuts, bruises, and red gashes.
"Does it look bad?" Jun called.
Nino gulped. "Just a few bruises, but they should go away in a few days." He didn't want to lie, but he couldn't stop. He pulled the shirt up and Jun awkwardly raised his arms. "You need warm clothes. I'm going to dry this." Nino stood and walked away. In a second, he spun on his heels and pointed an accusing finger. "We'll talk about your escape later."
In the laundry room, Nino thought of any logical reason why Jun would run away. From Arashi. From him.
Work: Jun always enjoyed a challenge. Even if he got 2 hours of sleep, Jun loved his singing and acting. So that was out.
Family: Well, Nino didn't know much about Jun's family. But then again, it had been his sister and mother who had filed the report. So family was out. Even if there had been a fight - that wasn't an impossibility; Jun and his father were known to have pig-headed, stubborn arguments quite often - Jun would've come to Arashi for comfort.
Personal: Now, Nino questioned this. The one thing Arashi didn't talk about was relationships. Sure, there was fan service. And sure, there were the chats on TV. And granted, Sho and Masaki made it obvious they were a couple with their playful flirting. But, they never talked about dates.
Was that why?
Nino looked through his memories.
Well, Momo girl was older than Jun and he had met her; she was nice, but only business partners. Friends tops.
Mao, maybe? No, she was 'close' to all of HanaDan. Besides, last time Jun talked to her was Finale, Nino remembered from looking through Jun's phone history.
That left Arashi; Nino leaned against the shaking dryer with a sigh.
Well, Sho and Masaki were out.
HE was impossible. This was probably the only off-screen nice thing he had done for Jun since their debut days.
Ohno...
Jun always stood by him, stole glances when nobody was looking. Looking back, it made sense.
And...Ohmiya..
Baka Matsujun. Nino grimaced as he walked back to his apartment. If he liked their Leader, why not say something. It wasn't like Nino was into him or anything. They were just as good friends as Nino was with anyone.
Running away because he couldn't date someone? Cliché! Nino growled as he turned into the stairs. Least he could do was stay with his family...
Unless his family turned him out. Nino sighed So...family is a problem.
When Nino entered his apartment, again, Jun was cocooned back in his blanket, fast asleep. Nino sighed, the door quietly closing behind him. He walked to the couch. He decided to keep his realization to himself; let Jun think this was his secret and his alone.
He pressed a kiss to Jun's forehead, leaving to a chair and curling into it. If Jun tried to escape again, he'd be there to stop him.
As he fell asleep, he missed the smile across Jun's face.
