Ravi Varma was hardcore.

So I'm making a reference to Ravi Varma prints in the current story, and I wanted to share this one.  Because, dood.

Yeah, and he's normally depicted as a monster of some sort; this works SO MUCH BETTER! :)

Agreed on both Rama and Ravanna (and Sita would have done better if she was less of a doormat -- for herself and for the countless women to whom she was held out as an example). And while we're on this topic, what do you think of Nina Paley's Sita Sings the Blues?

I need to see it -- but I need to write my own Sita story first.
Which, well, I'm doing :)

I really liked it -- better yet, it's freely available online.

We can discuss it when you have seen it.

The sad thing is that while I've looked forward to it since I first heard of it, I've been waiting for this story to be done -- and in the meantime seem to have developed migraine-type headaches to many videos.

So... we'll discuss when I've seen it if I'm able to see it, *sigh*

I'm glad someone else made the hottie comment, because I was totally thinking it. XD;

You and me both!
I'd figured I'd reference Varma based on the (far more sedate) images I'd seen, and looked him up, and...

I've been skipping back and forth from the story to this picture ever since :)

I'm married to a Nathaniel Smith, though I suppose I could ask him if he's secretly a Dharmesh Shah :)

(I'm not on facebook, or twitter, or really anything; lj is more social networking than I can consistently manage with the health foo.)
