Sooo there's a reason besides health for why I haven't been posting updates on the Jahanara pic. Namely that I've been working on writing out the Arabic text to the poem that goes with the picture, which tithenai's awesome father translated for me!

(Oh and speaking of tithenai, you guys all know that there's a sumptious summer banquet of Goblin Fruit to steal

It's such a gorgeous script. I, er, wish I could read it :) (I've been the illiterate scribe on this, with much patient fix-suggesting from tithenai's father.)

Of course what I've managed here is nowhere near the gorgeous calligraphy that was on the real Mughal art, but since I'd a) need to learn the language and b) work on writing it for 20 years, I think it gets to happen with plain script.
