I'm really getting sucked into this show. This ep was much more angsty than last week's ep, which was mostly hilarious. That's okay - I like angst too.
I totally agree with everything you said, the speech was just lovely, very well written and very well delivered by Fred. I'm just loving Marshall very much at the mo.
As for the Mary haters, pfft, I'm ignoring them, how can you hate her, she's a flawed character, aka, like you said, she's human!
Mary and Marshall's characters are very well matched. They're played beautifully by Mary and Fred. There's a lovely chemistry between the characters, both personally and professionally
( ... )
Mary and Marshall balance each other out pretty well, and yes, very well played by both actors.
I absolutly adore Marshall, he didn't do much for me in the pilot but he's grown a lot and he's just fabulous lol. Very quirky and geeky hot. I just loved that wifebeater lol.
I do like Rafe but I don't think he understands Mary, I got that from the proposal scene, I agreed with her, you don't get married because one of you is moving. She does feel for him, she wanted him at her bday bash and that shows something, and then chasing him to the airport. And yes, love triangle, really hope they make this work because it could be brilliant. I think almost everybody is on the side of M/M. Love struck Marshall is the cutest thing.
I adore Marshall when he reacts to an attractive woman. Ogling Mary's sister in the last ep and Mary hits him in the head with food. *Especially* when he couldn't look at Mary in her slut outfit - that was hilarious!
I laughed *so* hard at the kiss in the barn.
"Follow my lead"
"I thought I was!"
I would have loved to see a shot of Marshall's face when Mary suggested a 5-way!
Oh, I'm pretty firmly on the side of M/M. I just don't want to see it resolved too soon. Watching Marshall angst over it is just too good to give up. I think Mary knows on some level, but she's in denial about it. Which is part of what makes it so compelling.
I can't wait to see the ep where she tells Marshall she loves him like an $8 whore. Hah! I've seen that clip either on the website or TV - I can't remember which.
Yay! I'm so glad to have someone else I know to squee with!!
surreallis seemed to like the wedding ep, so she *might* join us, but she probably won't watch on Sunday nights because she has to work the next day. USA reruns it often enough during the week, etc. that she should be able to catch it if she wants to.
I haven't seen it myself, but lyssie mentioned it over on surreallis' LJ this weekend.
Dude, I have no idea. Even if you're just a Marshall fan, Mary's such an integral part of everything that it doesn't make sense. Their interplay is what *makes* the whole damn show.
I can understand some dislike of Mom and Sis, but I believe they're there for a reason. They're the basis for Mary's off-duty life, so wrangling them just adds to her personality. It makes Mary more understandable, so yeah, while I don't love every scene focusing on Jinx or Smish, I think they have some importance. Besides, Smish is just cute as hell.
I want you to know that I love you for loving this show. And I did think that that scene at the end is just so... incredible. And I love Marshall over Mary because it's clear how much he loves her and he just turns back into an infatuated 13-year-old boy whenever he's around her and I think that's just the sweetest thing.
For some reason there is nothing that really gets me like a man in love... not even, quite, a woman in love. There's just something that is so incredibly powerful about the former for me. Maybe that comes in large part, though, from its unfamiliarity: I'm a 15-year-old girl.
Did I really need to say that much? You know, comments look a great deal longer when you are typing them than they do once they've been posted.
Aw, please, no worries. I love long comments and they're quite welcome.
(Shh, just don't let your mom know you read my LJ. I'm not always what parents think is age-appropriate and I'll never talk down to you. I remember being 15 and you're probably more worldly than you let on to the 'rents ;) )
Anyway, on to the subject at hand. Marshall.
I agree that watching him be a boy is very charming. You're right - he does regress somewhat around Mary. It happens to all of us from time to time. Marshall's so dorky sometimes anyway. But holy geez that man is hot when he's in full lawman mode! Tall and lean and all business...
My parents are barely even aware that I have a LiveJournal, much less that other people do. Besides, I am a teenager and (am extremely fortunate to) have my own computer. Anyway, my parents took my brother, then 10, and me to see Borat when it came out and we sat in the front row at their suggestion, so I have the ultimate leverage for whenever questions of "appropriateness" arise. Even if they didn't have any idea what was in that movie before taking us. :P Anyway, ultimately, no worries. ;)
Good god. Marshall in that grimy sweaty pretty pretty wifebeater. I. Good god. And Mary. There. And the look in his eyes. I. Oh my god. That poor man was dying five times over and not just because of the fucking bullet wound.
