Work continues to kick my ass. Far more to do than hours in the day. I'll be working most of this weekend from home. I need to test if I can do the data-geek thing from home. I'd like to take some time off around the 4th of July, but alas, I'll still have to go in to do it if I can't do it from home. Why you ask? Isn't the New Guy doing backup duty ( Read more... )

Did you read about Amazon and the dogfight movies--among others, they're selling “Unleashed: The Realest Pitbull Action Caught on Tape” and my personal fav, “Hood Fights Vol. 2, The Art of the Pit”. According to Amazon, watching helpless animals tear each other to shreds is part of our First Amendment rights. Back in January, my brother recovered a Pit from a (human) domestic-violence situation in his neighborhood. It had to be put to sleep. Then last week, somebody rescued a "bait dog" that was tied to a tree right here in our neighborhood. She's been christened "Lucky" and will probably make it if she can ever be socialized. After the thing with my brother, I quit using Amazon in great disgust, though they make it impossible to remove your information. I've been using Powell's, Alibris, Thriftbooks, and the L.B.S. Being on a "Just Say No to Amazon" diet is difficult but not impossible. Anyway, I can't imagine they're advertising to everybody that they sell this dog porn--but they do.

Cheers,
Jo

Good to know! I actually hadn't heard anything about that.

Well, they actually didn't get any money or credit out of me for them. I called to stop the download when the credit wasn't applied properly to my purchase. But I ended up with the download anyway.

I generally prefer to buy my books at a brick and mortar store, like Tattered Cover, or even order through them.

Unfortunately, I can't use iTunes to download *any* video content. My computer is too old to play it properly. I have the right software, but the processor isn't fast enough.

I'll keep it all in mind, however.

Thanks!
