[Master Plot]

Summer is finally here! Feels like forever and a day since summer was here! I think I'll ask Harry and MJ to come with me to the beach. Better bring lots of sunscreen; wouldn't wanna get burned. I can't believe that Harry and I are going to be attending the same university once we graduate. Looks like he'll be needing some extra tutoring this ( Read more... )

You're a good friend, Peter, to help him like that. ...I thought you were already in university, though...?

Experimenting? What sorts of experiments?

Are you kidding? I'm only just about to graduate high school. I mean, I know I'm smart (not to brag or anything) but not that smart.

Something to do with genetic engineering. Scientists have been studying the human genome for years, and hopefully now we're ready to begin manipulating human DNA sequencing. They've been experimenting on various animal test subjects, spiders being one of them. Because insects and arachnids have such short lifespans and breed quickly, it's easier to predict the longterm effects of eugenics because we can see which genes are expressed in which offspring.

...Hmm. I suppose I was mistaken, then.

Yes, that makes sense! Although I would be inclined to urge, er, caution in human experimentation, given some of the tales I've been told.

Eh, it's all right. People forget. Lord knows, I'd forget my own head if it wasn't screwed on tight, that's what Aunt May always says!

Oh, of course! I mean, that's why we use animal testing: to work out all the kinks and to learn to fully understand the technology being implemented until such a time when we are confident enough to safely test such procedures on humans. But don't let those B-rated horror movies try and make you think that all scientific experiments go the way of Dr. Frankenstein!
