I didn't know you were going to write a House/Cuddy fic.
I don't really ship them, at this point I'm sure I prefer House alone, but it was a nice reading.
Thanks! ;)

Now go back to work on your H/S fic LOL

I didn't either, really. There's a House/Cuddy Drabble-A-Thon happening and I wanted to contribute. As far as canon is concerned, I prefer House alone, too. But I really love the idea of House and Cuddy and, if he were to end up with any of the current characters on the show, I think she is the best suited for him.

But I'm so glad you liked it, even if you don't ship them. I must get to work on that BigBang fic. I'm very worried I won't finish this draft. Or it will be absolute crap. I promise that "Eden" will pick up in about three weeks. I know that sounds like a long time, but it'll fly.

Thanks again for giving this a read. =)

The drabbles added up so fast I didn't see this over there. It's gorgeous and heartbreaking. I love this line because it's so plausible and so very Cuddy when she's defending him: She drags her fingertips down his body. Warm, solid, alive.

Thank you! Yes, the drabbles are cropping up quickly.

Watching someone she cares for nearly die so often must take a toll on her and I'd imagine that, despite her anger, she'd need to fulfill that irrational, emotional need to assure herself that he's alive and safe from death. For now, at least.

If this didn't happen, it should have. Cuddy's pain and anger are very real and understandable. The line that got me, tho, was House saying "I know you do." It's such a House thing to say and yet it's the kind of understanding we don't often get to see him express. It makes it all the more painful to know that he does understand how much she cares, and yet he still does things he knows will hurt her.

I'd imagine this situation affected Cuddy far beyond what we glimpsed in the episode, and House has such a tragic history of hurting the people who love him most. I'm so glad you liked this. =)

I love his demeanor through all of this - how he can't hide his startled reaction - and how he kisses her in an attempt to soothe. (God, my six year old does THE SAME THING.) The last line is fabulous, too - I love the "watery blur", it's such an oblique and satisfying way of portraying her tears. Very, very nice.
