Why S.P.D. Fucking Rocks

Following in the footsteps of mariko_azrael, who is writing on why Wild Force is her favorite season of Power Rangers, I'm going to be writing on another season that seems to get crapped on a lot by fans, my personal favorite season and indeed probably my favorite show/fandom out of EVERYTHING ( Read more... )

I'll be honest; SPD isn't my favorite season (for me, it's mostly because of the rabid fan brats, i.e. WES IS SO OBVIOUSLY SKY'S FATHER and that the latter half of the season felt kinda rushed). But then I got on LJ and saw you guys' fic/squee/love for the show, and yeah, it kinda rubbed. ^^ It's just nice to see such honest love for a show (especially since PR fandom can get very cynical at times, IMHO), and your essay? Is a perfect example of that love. You've shown an understanding of the characters/plot/PR on a whole that I wish a lot of the others fans had.

So GOOD JOB, and looking forward to the next part. ^_^ Also, thanks for inspiring me to get to work on part two. <3

Aww, thank you. ♥ I admit, I actually HATED S.P.D. the first time I watched it, and found Bridge annoying to boot. :x I also went through a brief period of Sentai elitism (where I thought PR could never, ever have any value), but when I came back to it, I gained a new appreciation for it, and meeting some wonderful people through the fandom helped immensely.

(for me, it's mostly because of the rabid fan brats, i.e. WES IS SO OBVIOUSLY SKY'S FATHER and that the latter half of the season felt kinda rushed)I thought the Wes is Sky's dad theory was an interesting concept at first, but I never really bought it, because there were so many things wrong with it. IMHO "But there was the red TF suit in S.P.D.!!!1!111" isn't a solid leg for that theory to stand on to begin with. Greg Aronowitz shot it down for good in his RangerCast interview, thankfully (though I'm sure there are people who will still insist it's true in spite of that ( ... )

I can't be near as coherent as a certain Mariko, so all I can manage is I love this and well done. :)
