I mostly write this kind of thing as far as Hetalia goes (which is most of my fanfiction these days, just wanted to warn you of that since I saw you had friended me :) )
In my American Civil War headcanon, Confederacy manifested himself as a split personality. I don't think he would have been able to split off because no one recognized him and certainly not America himself. Lincoln refused to ever accept the Confederacy as an actual nation and continuously called it the states in rebellion. Believe it or not, Canadians have actually been involved in all the wars America has ever fought, and they were fond of impersonating Americans xD
I wrote quite a few Civil War fics in June... if you like USxUK you might want to check out the alternate reality I have for this one where it's USUK instead of AmeCan (I love them both and can't choose which I like better x3)

That's cool. I can learn a few things about characterization from other fics, so yours will be a pleasure to read. :D Friend me back, please! I write a lot for FMA (Ed x Winry is too canon for words), so if you like that, then hopefully, you'll like ma fics. :) Anyways...
Very clever idea. :) I was wondering how America would deal with such a situation because he would be at war with himself. This is a great take on it! Ohh, that's so cool! I didn't know that. Something my history teacher failed to teach. Well, then, I guess Cuba has a reason for getting mad at Canada all the time, looking like America and all. I can't really tell the difference. One of my writing teachers is Canadian, but I wouldn't have known if she hadn't told the class. :D I guess America and Canada do deserve to be twins.
I'd love to check it out! The more Hetalia, the better! I like the take of UK being US's older brother and Canada and US being twins, but that's just for my writing sake. I'll read yours because I know it'll be good. :)-Auto
