Summary: Misao founds Kyo ill, little does she know who is really there beneath the blankets.
“Misao.”
“Kyo.” He was curled up beneath his futon comforter which was unusual. Usually he was would be making some kind of lewd comment and asking her to join him. Today he seemed to be unwell. She walked up to the side of the bed and knelt down beside him, moving the covers off his head so that she could look at her beloved’s face. He held the blankets firmly.
“Come be by my side.” A hand snaked out from beneath the blankets and dragged her down beside him. She was soon held close to his chest her face pressed into the front of his kimono.
“Are you sick? Did the Tsuchi-gumo injure you?! I’ll get Sagami and the others!”
“No,” He held her tighter to him, “Don’t leave me.” He seemed softer today, more of a gentleman and not the usual pervert he was. His fingers ran through her hair gently, almost soothingly. She felt him bend down and stick his nose into her hair inhaling her scent. It was calming and she soon relaxed into his embrace. She wrapped her arms around him and ran her hands up and down his back, trying to help him relax as well since he still seemed so tense. Perhaps it was all the fighting that had been going on with the other clans. She tensed slightly, remembering all of this conflict was about her. If she wasn’t the Senka maiden none of them would have gotten hurt, but then again she never would have met any of them either.
“I won’t ever leave you.” He didn’t respond, but she thought she might have heard a disbelieving snort. Before she could protest about his lack of faith in her that he shifted and pressed his lips to hers. Her eyes popped open not expecting the kiss, but the darkness beneath the blankets left her unable to see his face clearly.
“Make me better, Misao.” He kissed her again, drawing the energy she had been born with into himself. She kissed him back. This was odd behavior from Kyo, he continued to chastely kiss her instead of pushing the kiss. Maybe he wanted her to? She licked his lips and he actually pulled away.
“I’m sorry.”
“No, I just wasn’t expecting it.” He moved back and was kissing her again. This time he was more willing to kiss her back. She wanted to make him better, to heal him with the mysterious power that she had.
“I love you.”
“It’s not me that you love.” She made a sound of confusion and looked at him as he moved the blankets off of them.
“Sho!” The shock of his presence jolted her and she found herself laying on her own futon alone. A dream? Tears sprang to her eyes. What was this feeling she had for him, the gentler, and yet more violent, older brother of Kyo.
