[Fanfic100 Prompt] "Where?"

Dec 18, 2010 21:22

Title: "Where?"
Fandom: Axis Powers Hetalia
Characters: America (Alfred F. Jones)
Prompt: # 78 Where?
Word Count: 655
Rating: PG-13 - Because France is inappropriate
Summary: America is greeted by a few of his states to the confusion of France and England who can't for the life of them remember American geography.
Author's Notes: This is just a brain dump. I really want to include the states in some of my fics and haven't figured out a good way to work them in yet. When this prompt popped up through my number randomizer I immediately though of my recent trip to Japan where I was on a tour with mostly people from the UK. When they asked where I was from I replied, "Colorado." Not really thinking because I honestly don't know that many foreigners. They all looked really confused and even when I explained it was a state in the US they couldn't place it. So this is the poorly written brain child of that.
Edit: Wow, I will now classify this as total crack because the flu medicine was definitely talking!

“And the hero declares this meeting finished!” Everyone rose and began shuffling paperwork back into briefcases and dropping used coffee cups into the trash on their way out. England was one of the last ones to complete his business and file out. As he was searching his jacket pockets for his sunglasses he walked smack dab into France.

“Get out of my way frog!” France shushed him.

“Angleterre, do you see what I see?” France gestured down the hall. England followed his gesture and saw America surrounded by several girls that looked to be about fifteen. They were all involved in a hug. Two of the girls had dark hair and third was blonde. “It seems little Amerique has been making some new allies, although I must say I have never seen any of those lovely creatures before. He is doing quite well.”
“Be quiet.” England was not sure why this scene was getting on his nerves. What was America doing being so friendly with unknown nations. Granted it was in his character to get involved with newly created or small countries, but to be that companionable with them. The girls were now kissing America on the cheek for heaven’s sakes!

“Amerique needs to share.”

“France! Where are you...?” It was too late, the nation of love had walked over to the group. Not to be left out England quickly followed. Upon the older nations approach the girls eyes widened and they moved to stand behind America.

“Ha, ha. C’mon guys you don’t have to be so shy!”

“C’mon Fed I’ve already seen enough of Frenchman to last a lifetime.” said the dark haired girl with curly hair and green eyes. France gave her a confused look.

“Have we met?”

“Early nineteenth century. Technically I wasn’t born yet, but my lands certainly remember you. My brothers do too.” France began racking his brain looking for the identity of this girl. While France was trying to think back through all of his land conquests during the 1800s, England examined the girls closer. The one who had spoken looked a lot like Ireland. She had dark curly hair, green eyes, and pale skin. She looked tough like his sister as well. The other dark haired girl looked very similar to Spain and a bit like Mexico as well. The light haired girl was very demurely dressed and had eyes of a similar blue to America’s.

“Who are they America?”

“Wow, sorry man, that was rude. This is Colorado, Arizona, and Utah,” He said gesturing to the girl with dark curls, the tan girl, and the blonde girl in turn, “I’m spending the weekend with the mountain west and they came to pick me up.”

“Who?”

“Colorado, Arizona, and Utah.”

“Like I said you git! Who are they?”

“Part of the mountain west.”

“Which is?”

“In the Rocky Mountains.” England began thinking through all of his North American geography.

“That’s the one that runs from Canada down to Mexico right?”

“That would be the one!”

“Wait, that makes them states.”

Arizona came out from behind America. “Duh, who did you think we were?”

“He still doesn’t know where we live.” Colorado chimed in. “Do you?”

England had to admit it to himself, he honestly couldn’t place any of these places on the continent. That didn’t mean he needed to admit it to America or his offspring. He was desperately trying to think of a response when France spoke up.

“I remember now, I used to trap beaver in the Rockies all the time!” He sidled closer to Colorado and took her hand, “And by the way mon petit, I would gladly come looking for some again.” Two fists simultaneously struck him, Colorado and America’s. Served the dumb frog right England thought as he dragged him to the hospital, although he secretly thanks the Frenchman for sparing him trying to remember the geography of the United States of America.
