England awoke right before dawn like he had for centuries. He was warm and comfortable wrapped up with his lover. America had curled up into him, his head on his chest, that constantly stray piece of hair tickling the bottom of his chin. England gave him a small smile and kissed the top of his head. He went about untangling limbs and got up, tucking America in so he would not get cold. He pressed a kiss to America’s temple before heading downstairs. America simply rolled over stealing England’s pillow, he always had been a deep sleeper.
England walked downstairs to the kitchen, planning to surprise America by making breakfast. He shoved aside the junk food that the American had shoved in his fridge immediately upon arrival and looked for the ingredients he needed. He found eggs and various other cooking items to make what he could remember of an American breakfast. He hummed as he worked, turning down the burners before the fire alarm would go off waking America. When everything was almost finished he started a kettle of water. He would offer America tea, but at the inevitable refusal he was prepared. He would bring out the instant coffee that he had bought him. He sat the container on the counter in preparation.
It wasn’t long after the kettle began whistling that he heard the sound of America shuffling around the bedroom. He emerged into the kitchen about a minute later, and England flushed at the sight. America was only wearing his sleep pants, hair sticking up in all directions, glasses slightly askew.
“Morning Iggy.” he said, stretching a bit before plopping down at the kitchen table. He sniffed the air, “What are you cooking?”
“Breakfast.” he replied choosing to ignore the surprised look he received. He scooped various breakfast items onto a plate and sat it down in front of America, “Coffee or tea?”
America was staring at his plate when he requested coffee. England turned to prepare the drinks and when he turned back around he saw that America was still staring, with a disbelieving look on his face, at the plate.
England felt irritation well up inside him, “What?!”
His voice seemed to break America out of his revery, he looked up at him, “It’s not burnt.”
“My food is never burnt you dolt! It is merely well done!” he said, scowling at the wide-eyed face America was giving him. The younger nation turned back to his plate, picked up his fork and dug in. Sounds of pleasure drifted from him.
“This is really good!” he said, as he scraped his fork across his plate shoveling the remaining food in his mouth. England winced at the lack of table manners, but felt a fuzzy feeling grow inside him at the sight of America eating his food. He walked over to America’s side of the table after setting his own plate down at his seat.
“You have egg on your face, idiot.” he said, leaning down to lick it off before kissing America softly. He smirked at the blush that was no adorning America’s face.
“Thanks, Iggy.” he said, holding up his plate for seconds. England sighed, refilling his plate and sitting down to enjoy his food and his company.
