Running update, because I hadn't made one in a long time.
Did the
Turkey Trot this year for the first time, and really enjoyed it. A very hilly course, but we had great (chilly) weather. It was my first >5k event, and it was weird passing by mile 3 and wanting it to be over. (It's a 5miler) I'm fairly happy with my time (52:24), and it gives me something to try to beat next time.
The last longrun we did for my half marathon training was 8 miles. Strangely, it felt really good. Passing by the 7 mile marker, my running companion and I discussed the fact that we'd now gone further than we'd ever run, and in another mile, we could say that again. Neat feeling. This Saturday, we're doing 9 miles. Then 10, then 12 the two following Saturdays. Eep.
My total weekly mileage for two weeks ago was 13 miles (8mile longrun + 5 mile Turkey Trot). Last year at this time, my weekly mileage was usually around 3-4 miles.
No events this weekend, so I'm volunteering at the
Decker Challenge. A scary, hard, hilly 12 miler didn't fit into my training schedule, and I figure I should give back by being a volunteer, since I've had so many volunteers help me out at events. Doing packet pickup on Saturday and Some As Yet Unknown Task on Sunday, at the event itself.
And finally.. if I do anything strange at an event, there's always a photographer nearby, without fail. Like the
crouching picture from last year's Ride for the Roses. This year, the only picture of me from the Turkey Trot is one where I'm
stretching and freezing. I had been hoping he wasn't an official photographer, so I wouldn't hafta find out how that picture came out. Nosuchluck.
