“You’re fired!” The owner of the inn shouted, shoving a backpack into the younger man's his chest. The young and confused man gave a grunt when his backpack filled with the little belonging he has, hit his chest.

“What?” Hyukjae asked in confusion, and gave a betrayed look at the owner. “Why? I didn’t do anything wrong! I thought you said I was a good worker!”

“You are but ever since you arrived...” The owner frowned as he shoved some money in an envelope, and threw it at Hyukjae. “Bad things keep on happening! I can’t take it anymore! It’s like you attract bad luck! Just take this and leave!”

Hyukjae clammed up, and frowned. He avoided the owner’s eyes, then muttered, “I’m sorry.” He bent down to pick up the envelope, shoved it in his bag, and left with his head down. He tried to ignore the stares that surrounded him.

“So you got fired again, huh?” A deep voice said from beside Hyukjae.

Hyukjae narrowed his eyes, but did nothing else to acknowledge the presence next to him.

“Aww,” The deep voice whined, and Hyukjae felt his shoulders getting heavier. “Don’t be like that. You’ll find a better job soon.”

Hyukjae walks a bit faster while he brushes the arm around his shoulders off of him, hoping the annoyance would just disappear.

“Come on, Hyukjae, don’t ignore me.”

Hyukjae walked faster and tightened his hold on his bag’s strap.

“Hyukjae.”

He turned around the corner, away from the crowded streets, hoped against hope that maybe God might favor him just this once that his stalker won’t follow him.

“Hyukjae, don’t ignore me, look at me.”

Hyukjae kept on ignoring. A deep throat growled was his only warning when Hyukjae was suddenly pushed up against a building’s wall. At this, Hyukjae was forced to look at his stalker and looked up to see the demon grinning.

“I said,” The demon held him against the wall said almost airily. “Don’t ignore me, Hyukjae.”

“Yeah, yeah,” Hyukjae said and rolls his eyes indifferently as his heart pounds. “Whatever. Why should I pay attention to you when you were the one who got me fired in the first place!”

“What?” The demon blinked innocently, “Me? Why would I do that?”

“Because, Donghae!” Hyukjae kicked the demon in the shin that yelped and stepped back, letting Hyukjae walk away. “It’s always you!”

“Now, now,” Donghae grinned playfully as he puts his arm around Hyukjae shoulders again, this time Hyukjae doesn’t brush his arm off. “How can you blame me?”

“Because you are the demon!” Hyukjae exclaimed while his hands flails around, “You guys attract bad luck like flies to garbage! And I always get blamed for it when it’s you! It’s your entire fault! Why do you keep on stalking me?”

“It’s not stalking,” Donghae smiled as he leaned in closer, “I just want to spend time with you but since you’re working, I can only sit and watch you.”

“You sit around all day,” Hyukjae sighed in frustration, wanting to palm his face but managed to hold back, “Then you annoy me after work, and it continues until I’m fired! Don’t you demons have any work to do? Like terrorizing some people or make illegal contracts with greedy people?”

“Nah,” Donghae nonchalantly said as he pulled Hyukjae closer to nuzzle the space between his neck, and shoulders with a sigh of contentment.

“Donghae!” Hyukjae ears heated up in embarrassment, ignored the slight increase of heart rate as he tried to push him away. “What the hell do you think you’re doing? Stop it!”

“Nah,” Donghae repeated, but then suddenly frowned and looked up at the empty space in front of them, making Hyukjae look at Donghae confusedly.

Hyukjae then gulped silently, and unconsciously tried to take a step back when he saw Donghae glared hard at nothing, but Donghae’s hold on him prevented him from doing so.

“Donghae?” Hyukjae asked cautiously with narrowed eyes. “What’s with you?”

Just then a man dressed in black with a huge grin fades to view, and waved enthusiastically. “Hello there!”

“Go away,” Donghae frowned, and did a shooing motion with his hand. “Nobody wants you here, Zhou Mi.”

“That’s not nice,” Zhou Mi said at the same time Hyukjae did with a frown.

“Don’t be mean to Zhou Mi,” Hyukjae scolded, and frowned at Donghae with his arms crossed. “He’s nice.”

“What?” Donghae furrowed his eyebrows at him. “I’m nice too! How come you never defend me?”

“That’s because you’re annoying,” Hyukjae said before turning to the other demon, ignoring Donghae’s pout. “Are you here to take Donghae away? Please say you’re here to take him away.”

“Hey!” Donghae exclaimed with disbelief, felt offended by Hyukjae remark, but was ignored.

“Well lucky you,” Zhou Mi said with a big smile. “I am. The King wants him to finish his work, he’s been slacking off lately.” He then turned to the glaring Donghae whose glare can roast anyone lesser under a second, but this was Zhou Mi, not anyone lesser. “I am to bring you to see The King before you go do your work. He’s been complaining how you never visit him anymore now that you always go off to see Hyukjae.”

“Aww,” Donghae whined, and pouted while Hyukjae wondered if all the demons act like Donghae, and Zhou Mi or if they were just special like that. “I don’t want to. Can't The King just find somebody else to play with? What happened to that mini him? I thought he was attached to him.”

“Well mini him,” Zhou Mi said cheerfully, “Has gotten his first big assignment, and needs to spend his time planning to get it done spectacularly. So The King's not bothering him because of that, and before you ask, everyone else is off doing something. You know, something called jobs. You’re the only one who’s not doing anything.”

“What about you? You’re not doing anything too!” Donghae demanded as he jabbed an accusing finger at Zhou Mi.

“I am and that’s why I’m here, to take you back.” Zhou Mi said slowly, as if he was explaining something complex to a child.

“But!”

“No buts,” Zhou Mi cheerfully said, and then he was suddenly in front of the two, surprising them. Zhou Mi quickly grabbed Donghae’s arm. “It’s The King’s order.”

“It was nice seeing you, Hyukjae,” Zhou Mi nodded to the human boy. “It would be nice if I could stay and talk but I need to take this thing back.”

Hyukjae smiled, “It’s alright, please take him far away. After you’re finished, maybe we can go eat something. I think there's a restaurant somewhere in town that sells your favorite cake.”

Zhou Mi thought for a second before he nodded. “Alright, then I’ll see you after this. I don't think it will take long.”

“Hey!” Donghae frowned at Hyukjae, “You never invite me! And since when did you know Zhou Mi's favorite cake? Did you two go out behind my back?! You did, didn't you?!”

“That’s because Zhou Mi’s not a stalker.” Hyukjae looked at Donghae blankly. Before Donghae can reply, Zhou Mi quickly waved good-bye with a bright smile to Hyukjae and the two fade away from view, leaving Hyukjae alone.

Hyukjae sighed and walked away, hoping to find the restaurant that sold Zhou Mi's favorite cake, then endure Zhou Mi's talk of this demon named Kui Xian.
