saw that. i hope they fix this fairly, and soon, and put some decent guidelines into place for how they will handle this sort of 'crisis' in the future.

Apparently the big Harry Potter comm got reinstated, so that's a really good sign. Considering what this SA guy said to CNET, I think the only reason he turned around on it was because it became so unbelievably clear how HUGE fandom was and how much revenue that might turn into if we all packed up and left.

Their guidelines weren't bad in the first place--problem was that they were vague enough that they just ignored them. But it seems the comms weren't purged at least, as we'd feared, so I think what was in them was recoverable.

Yep! I saw it posted w/o the line through it, so it seems it's back!

Well. I think we can count that as one to us. :)

Definitely! I was just saying above, that by the boneheaded remarks this guy made to CNET, the only reason he changed his mind HAS to be the overwhelming fannish response and threat of packing our stuff up and moving on.

I'm not throwing a party yet, but the big HP comm got undeleted, so that's a good sign that things may get back to where they should be.

Hee! Your icon is perfect!

I was really starting to doubt that this would turn out right, but this is a good start. :)

I think this is actually the part that surprised me the most. Especially after that CNET article, I really thought those comms were all going to stay deleted. Particularly the HP one. The fact that fandom response and bad press spurred them to action is pretty wild, though I fear it may be short-lived.
