I loved Music & Lyrics too! I cringed and laughed at the same time during the Pop! music video. It was so perfectly '80s, so dead-on in its lampooning, that I almost felt like I was at a roast. And Drew was just so damn ebullient and cute. I watched 50 First Dates the same weekend and my love for Drew is completely cemented.
I made an absolute fool of myself in the theater when that video was on! LOL! The other actor that was with him in that was just perfect, too...my god, the dance moves! *weeps with laughter* Although I am now wondering if my own dancing at weddings and parties looks so woefully out of date...eep! :P
I've adored Drew in films for a long time, and generally enjoy the fiesty woman roles she takes on. I haven't seen 50 First Dates...shall have to check that one out as well...
All the jokes about hip replacements almost made me weep from laughter. And Cora! What a perfect send-up of a pop princess.
I really recommend 50 First Dates. I was leery of it for a long time, because I'm simply not an Adam Sandler fan. However, the script if smart, Drew's character is wonderful, and Sandler tones down his usual juvenile humor. Plus, a walrus and a penguin have prominent roles, how great is that?
I know, that weird sexual yoga bit she did to "enhance" their song? *howls* It shows how frustrating it must be to be in that business, that's for sure!
See, I was leery of that film, too...though I'd been considering it since The Wedding Singer is one of my all-time favorite movies. And lol on the walrus and penguin...now I'll definitely have to check that out...hee!
There's a show about angry, violent Irish people? Where? Where?? Chris hasn't been able to get the next disc of The Sopranos from Blockbuster, so it would be nice to find a source to get some angst and violence from the other major part of my heritage. *EG*

Woohoo! Angry, violent, and cute are the best kind!
I finally got around to seeing The Departed (Leo does a great job of playing an angry, violent, cute Irish guy, as usual, even if he's not of mah people™). Crazy grandmother went into a rant about Scorsese, saying that she doesn't like him anymore because he's got "something against the Irish" because he keeps showing them being "bad" and "crooked"...ROFLMFAOPMP. Yeah, because Irish people are just such happy, joyful leprechaun folk who dance and sing and chase rainbows all day, JUST LIKE HER.

LOL...well, she does watch Queer as Folk, that's gotta make her a bit more cheerful...hee! I've got an Irish gal on my flist that prolly dislikes Scorsese for the same reason...she's always trying to prove that Irish people aren't drunk all the time and wearing green hats and bright red beards...hee...
I haven't seen The Departed yet which irritates me...Leo and Mark and Matt all in one picture? *swoons* We might end up just buying it, I think.
I haven't seen Zodiac yet but its definitely on my list but as for the rest of your post I think we shared a brain for a moment because I agree with you completely...I so wanted to like The Black Donnellys...such potential, but it's just not holding my interest...except in the hosed-down hot body scene and well even though it helps that's not nearly enough to make me keep watching. I think I'll give it one more episode just to be sure. I'm so bummed about it though...
And Music and Lyrics...LOVED! What a perfect pairing and watching Hugh in those music videos just killed me! SO hilarious! :)
Yeahy! Someone agrees with me! The Black Donnellys does have such potential...the little glimmers of humor help. And the hosing down scene, of course. But it's just so so dark and no one in it is particularly likeable. Some of the justifications for their actions seem a bit thin to me, and the one girl character is pretty lame in my mind. Gah. I think I might try one more episode too, to see if it smooths out into something a bit better, but right now...just not feeling it like I want to. *is bummed with you*
Wasn't Hugh divine? I haven't laughed that hard in ages and it felt sooo good. He was on Jay Leno the other night...a rerun I think, but they talked about the movie and he said he thought it was his favorite one yet. Which I think showed...he just really was brilliant in that and Drew was as loveable and adorably funny as ever. *hearts*
If you get a chance, let me know what you thought of Zodiac when you see it...
I think the female character is pretty lame as well, which is another thing that bums me out because I so love the whole "we've known each other since we were five and I love you and you love me and we're so damn angsty and hot" relationship but I just can't get into her character. I'm hoping it brightens up a bit because you're right, I'm not feeling any connection with the characters...they're all generally unlikeable (is that even an word? *snerk*) I'm especially bored by Jimmy "I'm a limping pile of alcoholic/feel sorry for me/anger management issues that I should have moved on from or gotten counseling for about ten years ago" Donnelly. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the next ep
