1. I am going to Escapade! Los Angeles weather, I'm counting on you to be nice, because Chicago is an ice planet. I'm DONE WITH YOU, WINTER.

2. I just registered for VividCon! Even though I'm not entirely sure I'll be able to go, because when I ask the Magic 8 Ball about my future, it tells me, "Reply hazy, try again ( Read more... )

I am angry and bitter and resentful of winter right now.

Me too. Oh, God, me too. I'm looking at random vacations, and thinking of beaches, and I'm not a beach person. Ugh, seriously.

Ok, so I apparently only read 1/2 this post before, and didn't see the thing about Dublin. Clearly, I don't live there, but if it comes to that, I promise to visit. :) I'll miss having you so close though.

If Dublin actually happens, I've already considered getting a place with a spare room in anticipation of visitors. :)

Aw, hope you can come to VVC, because I think I finally will be able to go again this year!

And wow, I have been to Dublin a couple times, but I have never lived there. If you end up doing to, so I would totally come visit again.

(I am not speaking of winter, because if I do, I will cry.)

Going to VVC probably will work out, although if I'm living in another country that obviously will complicate things. It's difficult to make plans when things are in limbo.

(Sorry about your winter.)

Dublin is supposed to be an absolutely beautiful city. Beautifully preserved, too, because they were neutral during WWII and escaped the bomb damage that most other European cities got. I've never actually been, but it's on my bucket list.

All that having been said, I would strongly advise not getting pregnant in Ireland if you can possibly help it. Incredibly retrograde abortion laws, to the point where even needing an abortion to save your life may not be enough. See the case of dentist Savita Halappanavar, now sadly deceased. Sorry to bring politics into it.

But leaving aside the politics, Dublin could be an awesome move. The cost of living is cheap by European standards, and you're just a very short hop from some very glamorous cities so your vacations could be fabulous. Fancy a long weekend in Paris, London or Florence? Easy-peasy!
