It seems odd that I am more productive when I am unemployed, but it appears to be the case. Since Monday, I have:

• Updated my Monster resume
• Applied for at least 16 jobs
• Bookmarked another 17 to apply for
• Filed for unemployment
• Scheduled an interview for next week

I applaud your efforts to find new employment. Every time I've been unemplyed I go through a period of feeling paralyzed before I can get it together to look for work. So brava to you. I've no doubt you'll be successful in your search.

I've been laid off enough that... well, it doesn't get easier, but at least I know what to do, and get things moving as quickly as I can. I took a few hours, and by 5 o'clock Monday, I was talking with a guy about a job.

I don't have much in my savings account, and the thought of how I'm going to make rent for more than a couple months has me going, "Ffffffffffuck."

You know, one of the reasons I left the theater was the utter impossibility of predicting when I'd be out of work. Now I work in the field of religion (! Still surprised by that, I am) and hopefully it's not an institution likely to go out of business.

I have considered training in some other industry. Working in IT isn't as unpredictable as theater, but I do seem to be job searching every few years.
