HIlariously, the Buffy thing resonates not for me at all -- I have no TV, and never have had one -- but we'd need a hell of a lot of volunteers who were willing to devote an insane amount of time at no pay, purely out of love.

Well, that's pretty much the definition of fandom, isn't it.

Oh, shrift.

watersword, I'm primarily in fandom for the TV-based fandoms, but Buffy's not my thing, so you're not alone in the not resonating.

But YES. There have been nights I thought I'd go cross-eyed from the ToS. But the love for fandom, the work just makes it stronger.

OMG, Ainsley, I know. The TOS are, like, going to be my suicide note -- except that they're going to be the reason I don't kill myself, because fandom. Just. We're doing good work. For something that matters so much.

We're in service, in a way -- I just got this lunatic metaphor in my head about how we're like nuns, only with porn, and oh god, I've got to go to bed right the hell now.

Fandom has been my home, my safe haven, my sanity since the late '70s. I don't have a lot to give back to it for all it's given me through the years, but I have to support OTW because OTW is fandom, fandom at its best. It's all about the community.
